Granny squares remind me of the tarot cards. Each square is made from different colours, all unique. Colours like emotions, feelings are creatively expressed in the Tarot cards a vignette or window into ones current feelings, mood, energy.
My “mother of Magic ” Pamela Coleman Smith my aunt drew the art work for the now famous Rider Waite Coleman Tarot deck. “The Corrigans ” in Irish folk lore are known to be mischievous, clever beings, like Pixie folk. Pixie was the nick name given by an associate of Pamela Coleman Smith. Her life whilst in corporeal embodiment was conflicted by the many who mistook and manipulated her pure essence, open hearted loving demeanor and innocence. Corrigan is the family name of her birth mother and that is another story to be told.
Despite all the limitations and constraints of the times she lived in; she succeeded in her life endeavours holding true to her own value system and essence of her true self. This resilience and fortitude can serve any one well in trying times.
To maintain this lovely crochet coat wash in cool water with mild detergent. Adding white vinegar with prevent colours running, although the yarn used is colourfast. The vinegar will also maintain fibre integrity of the garment as dirt accumulates with wearing of any garment. Air dry preferred, if using a machine dryer choose a cooler setting. Use wool dryer balls as it pounds out any lingering particles of dirt and keeps garment fibres soft and flexible.
